Event to Showcase Original Works by More Than 50 Filmmakers and Artists..
More than 50 filmmakers and visual artists from across the nation will present their original works in Nashville from Nov. 10-13 (Thursday-Saturday) at the third annual “ARTlightenment” festival.
The film and visual art festival, which will occur in the historic Fall School Building (Celebrity Centre Nashville) at 1130 Eighth Ave. S., will feature original films, an art exhibition, and a wide range of professional workshops.
Festival hours are 6:30-9:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday; noon-10 p.m. on Saturday; and noon-6 p.m. on Sunday. An artist reception and film/art awards presentation will occur from 6-10 p.m. Nov. 12 (Saturday).
The festival is sponsored by Jerry’s Artarama.
Admission is free for the art reception and exhibition. Attendees can enjoy the films and attend the workshops by purchasing a four-day pass for $10. For more information or to buy tickets, visit http://www.artlightenment.com.
“The theme for ‘ARTlightenment’ is ‘art, artists and the art of existence’,” said visual artist and filmmaker Robyn Morshead, founder of the event. “This is an opportunity for Middle Tennessee filmmakers and artists to show their best work to people who really care about art. There will be workshops and other events to bring artists together and help them advance their careers.”
Highlights of “ARTlightenment” are
* The showing of original films by more than 20 filmmakers, including Will Akers of Nashville, Nicole Cattrell of New York, John Jones of Nashville, Rob Lindsay of Nashville, Pamela Roberts of Atlanta, and Raeanne Rubenstein of Nashville. Showtimes are 6:30-9:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday.
* An art exhibition from Thursday-Sunday featuring works by more then 30 artists, including Carla Christina Contreras (mixed-media photography) of Ashland City; Dan Deming (abstract paintings) of Big Bear, Calif.; Camille Engel (oil realism paintings) of Nashville; Gail McDaniel (watercolor paintings) of Franklin, Tenn.; Robyn Morshead (abstract sculptural paintings) of Nashville; and Charlotte Terrell (mixed-media landscape paintings) of Nashville.
* A free artist reception and film/art awards presentation from 6-9 p.m. Saturday. A professional panel of jurors will present a “Best of Show” and other awards to participating filmmakers and visual artists.
* Workshops from 1-5:30 p.m. Saturday and 1-4 p.m. Sunday covering topics such as publicity for artists and filmmakers; using professional photography to promote one’s career; gaining gallery representation; promoting, marketing and pricing one’s art; and creating a successful art career.
* Free painting lessons for children and adults from noon-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
