Congratulations to filmmaker Brooks Benjamin and our film friends in East Tennessee..
Award Winning Comedy Hits the Shelves of Wal-Mart and Target on March 9th
Roane County native Brooks Benjamin’s latest film, Boys of Summerville, will be available for purchase and rent in stores on March 9th of this year. This hilarious family-friendly comedy, starring David Keith, Natalie Canerday, Wes Murphy, and Casey Payne, showcases some of east Tennessee’s most beautiful locations as the Summerville Hornets team up for another year of men’s competitive softball. Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy, and Netflix already have the movie on their websites for pre-order.
“The BOYS OF SUMMERVILLE is one of the best of this bunch that is trumpeting the soul of southern young people…” reports the staff at Film Arcade. “We wanted to make a movie that showed the true beauty of where we live and also acted as a tribute to our father, Chuck Benjamin, who passed away from cancer in 2000. He loved comedies and he loved softball, so this movie seemed to be the perfect one to make,” says Brooks Benjamin, the film’s director and his brother, Jason Benjamin, who plays the character Roid in the movie.
The DVD will be packed with special features such as 2 commentary tracks, extended scenes, deleted scenes, a blooper reel, and a “Focus on Rocky” featurette. The DVD is being distributed by Seminal Films and E1 Entertainment. Boys of Summerville was shot entirely in east Tennessee and features a variety of very talented local actors and picturesque locations, such as the TVA softball field, which was just recently destroyed by the ash spill.
Soon after returning to visit his hometown, Peter Davis gets sucked back into the local obsession of men’s competitive softball and has to lead the eccentric Summerville Hornets thorough one more season. A feel-good comedy for the whole family about rekindling old friendships, finding true love, connecting with your roots, and playin’ a whole lotta softball!
