FILM-COM FINANCING & DISTRIBUTION COMPLETION MARKET

April 17 to 20, 2012

In the Spotlight this week is the 3rd Annual FILM-COM FINANCING & DISTRIBUTION COMPLETION MARKET (FILM-COM), designed for filmmakers seeking funding and distribution for feature film, television, and documentary projects-in-progress. FILM-COM is not a festival that exhibits completed films for the general consumer public; rather, it is a business event specifically geared for filmmakers who have feature films, television concepts, or documentaries that already have some packaging elements in place. Examples of packaging elements include but are not limited to a business plan, partial funding, talent attachments, or some distribution interest.
FILM-COM is a market focusing on commercial viability and is dedicated to fostering vital relationships for filmmakers, including connections to distribution companies, television executives, production capital, P&A funding, product integration specialists, and potential co-production partners with significant credentials. Submitted works receive exposure on the FILM-COM website and at the New Project Expo, the opportunity to be included in FILM-COM’s printed catalog, and the chance to be one of the 20 most “ready-to-market” projects presented in-person to major industry players actively seeking material.

Past participants have included Michael Uslan, Executive Producer of the BATMAN movie franchise; Abby Ex from the Weinstein Company; Fred Grinstein from A&E; Pancho Mansfield from Fox Television; Rene Rigal and Michael Forman from Virgin Produced; John Hadity, President of the Producers Guild of America East; Dan Stutz from Exclusive Media Group; Temple Fennell from ATO Pictures; Larry Namer, Founder of E! Entertainment Network; Diego Martinex from Nu Image/Millennium; John Crye from NewMarket Films; and Alexis Garcia from William Morris Endeavor. Executives like these and more will be participating at FILM-COM 2012. The event offers opportunities to meet with industry executives, so filmmakers are strongly encouraged to attend the market, whether or not their project is one of the most ready-to-market selections.

FILM-COM takes place in the downtown heart of “Music City USA” – Nashville, Tennessee. All industry executives and filmmakers stay at the Hilton Nashville Downtown, which is adjacent to iconic landmarks such as historic lower Broadway, Tennessee Titans Stadium, Music City Center, the Country Music Hall of Fame, and the Cumberland River Walk.

Filmmakers who complete their submission via Withoutabox will receive all-access passes to attend FILM-COM’s New Project Expo, film and television business seminars, three days of networking breakfasts, and the special Music-in-Film Concert at the nearby Schermerhorn Symphony Center. FILM-COM has secured special hotel rates at the Hilton so that filmmakers can attend as much of FILM-COM as possible. Next deadline is January 31, 2012, followed by two late deadlines.
