INDIE MEMPHIS FILM FESTIVAL – October 21 to 24, 2010
The 13th Annual INDIE MEMPHIS FILM FESTIVALpresents a fun-filled and inspiring celebration of indie cinema in vibrant Memphis, Tennessee, home of the Blues and the birthplace of Rock ‘n’ Roll. With a focus on Southern filmmaking, the Festival highlights the best in regional filmmaking and presents a dynamic lineup of new independent work from all corners of the country.
One of MovieMaker’s 25 “Coolest Film Festivals,” Indie Memphis offers an intimate and welcoming environment that sparks connections and collaborations. Exhibiting filmmakers receive all-access credentials and are treated to Memphis’ best; Sun Studios, Reverend Al Green’s Full Gospel Tabernacle Church, and the Stax Museum of American Soul Music are all part of the experience, giving filmmakers ample opportunities to connect while exploring the city’s rich cultural and creative history.
Last year, Indie Memphis welcomed over 80 out-of-town filmmakers, industry veterans, and special guests, including Craig Brewer (HUSTLE & FLOW), Elvis Mitchell (KCRW’s “The Treatment”), Peter Gilbert (HOOP DREAMS), Joe Swanberg (ALEXANDER THE LAST), Ray McKinnon (THAT EVENING SUN), Barry Corbin (NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN), the Alloy Orchestra (Buster Keaton’s THE GENERAL) and singer/songwriter Robyn Hitchcock, who closed the Festival with an acoustic performance in the main theatre.
