Nashville-based collaborative group making second TV pilot..

Nashville-based collaborative group Barking Chicken Studios is producing its second TV pilot project. The group, who are dedicated to producing ongoing original programming in Nashville, are currently in post-production on the pilot for Strange Times. The new pilot project is an irreverent, “mock-u-cational” half-hour comedy series called How Come – that parodies educational television – everything from Mr. Wizard to Mythbusters – through a hilarious array of characters and situations, centered around an arrogant, but idiotic host whose only qualification is his family’s ownership of the fictional station on which How Come airs.

The production team for the How Come pilot includes Emmy-award winning director Steve Feldman (known for directing everything from Sesame Street to Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher), executive producers Kevin Tucker and Becky Tucker (co-producers, writers, and director of the award winning short film Electricity: Unplugging The Myth, and creative firm co-owners, having worked with household names from Larry the Cable Guy to Big & Rich), consulting producer Dustin Ballard & assistant director Ryan Dunlap (co-creators of award winning short Leave Me and feature film currently in post-production Greyscale), with production designer Brian Roberts, director of photography Jason Marlin, with DJ Goller overseeing postproduction, among others.

The series will star local improv and Ernest film veteran Josh Cherry and comedian/actor Torry Martin, who, among other accomplishments, was recently featured in Taylor Swift’s “Ours” music video and its connected “The Office” parody web series.

The project is seeking additional funding through Kickstarter.com, which is a method of crowdsourcing funds by offering rewards to individuals who back the project. Rewards for backing How Come include digital downloads, props from the show, blooper reels, interaction with characters, t-shirts, and opportunities to be involved including a walk-on role, and backing levels start at as little as one dollar.
