Award winning Nashville Film Institute holds open house and presents a screen writing session with writer of big bang theory and two and a half men..

The Nashville Film Institute (www.theNFI.com ) has announced their Spring open house to be held March 6 from 10:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m. at their school location: The Factory at
Franklin, 230 Franklin Road, Building 2, 2nd floor, Franklin, TN. Visitors will meet instructors and current students, view the facility, meet the faculty, and have the opportunity to learn more about receiving an education in the film industry. Since their founding in June 2009, NFI has enrolled 15 students and recently won an ADDY Silver award for 2010 in the Mixed Media Campaign category for their branding, created by Studio Plush.

Prospective students and their parents will be able to take a tour of the school and meet
with NFI instructors and current students who can answer questions and give personal insights.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to sit in on a “Writer’s Room” as TV writer Ahmadu Garba (“Big Bang Theory,” “Two and a Half Men,” etc) leads a screenwriting session. There will also be live music, featuring recording artist Billy Reasons and the band Herrick, and movies in the NFI’s theater area.

In addition, The highly regarded Doorpost Film Project (http://www.thedoorpost.com) will provide a special screening and information about their short film contest.

“The Nashville Film Institute is quite a unique place,” says NFI’s Director of Development, Jason Glassman. “It’s a fast-track diploma course that helps a student become a ‘film pro’ in just nine months. It’s hands-on from day one.” Students at NFI learn both the art and the business of filmmaking and graduate with the knowledge, the tools and the network to be a success, as well as a reel demonstrating their skill in six areas: short film, music video, documentary, commercial, silent film and still photography. Adds Glassman, “Ultimately, the filmmakers develop into confident storytellers with the technological skills to create unique film.”

A major uniqueness of NFI is their highly focused program that transforms the entering student into a film professional in just 9 months. Students interact with and learn from seasoned professionals in various disciplines of the film business, including screenwriting, cinematography, editing, lighting, sound, and film specific aspects of business. As part of the tuition, students receive an Apple MacBook Pro loaded with Avid Media Composer and Final Cut Pro editing software, affording them top notch tools of the trade to enhance their learning experience. As students begin to build a career in the film industry – the NFI program teaches them both the art and business of filmmaking.

“For anyone curious to see if a career in the movie business is right for them, our Open House is a way to see what the opportunities are,” said NFI’s CEO, Prema Thiagarajah.
