Patrons Support Historic Theatre at Academy Awards Official Viewing Party..
Hollywood glamour and excitement reign at the Belcourt Theatre with the return of OSCAR NIGHT® AMERICA on Sunday, March 7, 2010. Patrons will experience the thrills and surprises of the 82nd Academy Awards at Nashville’s only officially sanctioned OSCAR NIGHT® AMERICA party that benefits the historic Nashville theatre in Hillsboro Village.
A special Patrons Party at 5:30 p.m. features VIP treatment: complimentary valet parking, a dazzling red carpet entrance, paparazzi, an incredible silent auction, delicious food and an open bar. And, each VIP patron will receive the official commemorative Oscar show program, the same one that the star-filled audience receives at Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre. At 7 p.m., guests will view the LIVE Academy Awards telecast on the Belcourt’s two huge movie screens, while the party continues with an open bar until 9 p.m.
As the largest annual fundraiser for the non-profit theatre, OSCAR NIGHT® AMERICA attracts guests from the Middle Tennessee region to enjoy a taste of Hollywood in Nashville. Guests will dress to suit the theme of this year’s event—Hollywood Glamour—donning tuxedos, taffeta and tulle, sparkles and sequins, and diamonds and pearls. In past years, some guests have arrived dressed as famous Hollywood couples, others have shown up in daring attire, but everyone makes a fashion statement.
“Oscar Night® America attracts film lovers, Belcourt supporters and true fashionistas,” says Stephanie Silverman, managing director of the Belcourt Theatre. “We love seeing the imaginative outfits parading down the red carpet—it illustrates the joy and excitement of having this event in Nashville. Each year tops the next in terms of fun and fashion.”

The Belcourt Theatre is a nonprofit cultural institution dedicated to presenting the best of independent, documentary, and world cinema; promoting visual literacy; and making film a vibrant part of the community while serving as a regular and important home for independent voices in music and theatre. Housed in Nashville’s last historic neighborhood theatre, the Belcourt Theatre provides opportunities for people of all ages to discover, explore and learn through the power of film, music and theatre. Opening in 1925 as a silent movie house, the theatre was home to the Grand Ole Opry from 1934-36. Since the re-opening of the theatre in 1999 more than 500,000 people from Middle Tennessee have come here to see nearly 1,000 films from every corner of the globe, musicians both long established and newly emerging and theatre from some of Nashville’s most creative and imaginative artists.
