Prophets Rising On The Documentary Channel

GoldPitt’s documentary set to air on April 17th at 8PM EST/7PM CT..

Catholics have the Vatican. Protestants have Nashville, Tennessee. The city known as “Music City USA” has become a hub for the modern prophetic movement. Like their forefathers in ancient times, these modern-day prophets believe they hear from God directly and are His messengers. It is a tightly-knit community of nomadic Christians, sporadically setting up shop in our local churches – a provocative mix of fundamentalist Evangelicals and old-time Pentecostals – prophesying, speaking in tongues, performing miraculous healings and preparing for the End Times.

Prophets Rising is a pensive journey and roller-coaster ride into the prophetic world of signs and wonders. For a year, filmmakers Jane Pittman and Loree Gold ventured into the supernatural realm where they met Sandy Powell, Mickey Robinson and James Goll, three acclaimed Prophets fishing for souls in the name of the Lord. They discovered a growing movement steeped in the ancient rituals of the early Christian church yet bearing the face of a typical American community – the soccer moms and IT dads, college students, high school kids and baby boomers. Why are some of our co-workers and neighbors being drawn to the fringes of a fundamentalist religious awakening? What do Sandy, Mickey and James offer those who believe the mainline Christian church has somehow lost its way? Many believe it’s a time for intimacy with God, Jesus and The Holy Spirit – a time to leave the pews and freely sing and dance and speak in tongues to the heavens above.

I appreciate the filmmakers candid depiction of the prophetic and ability to keep an open mind, and heart. Interested in seeing it from the beginning to end.
    Perfect timing for this film.

  2. Jim Prater says:

There could be no better time for this film to be showing than
now. All people are hearing all religions being discussed on
all the major tv networks, as well radio talk shows and news
media, including newspapers and magazines. I love the simple
way the film shows the prophetic movement. We need more of this.

    thank you,

God Bless You for the excellent quality of this documentory. I really appreciate you for not being bias against the beliefs of the pentacostal movement. My husband and I remarked as we were watching all of those young people in the stadium in Nashville how great it would have been if we would of had a place to go and express our fears, feelings and anxieties to other teenagers who would PRAY for us and with us rather then going to the bars and drinking to try to help us face and understand life.
When I met GOD intimatly in 2004 it changed my life. HE restored my JOY from years of depression. I don’t know how to explain this it is definitely supernatural and then HE sent me beautiful sister to mentor me. One of the most life changing things she taught me was “If it isn’t going to effect me in eternity don’t worry about it!!!!!!!!

I loved the song that Sandy Powell and Shane Anthony did, Im a musician myself and I think the song is beautiful and very heart felt. If anyone knows where I could get a copy of the song I’d appreciate the info.
    Thanks

I am from Nashville and I still live here. It was such a surprise to know we have “prophets!” Its amazing the stuff people keep “underground” whoa. Nice :)

  6. Karla says:

I’m watching these people right now and while it’s just fabulous they seem so happy and filled with joy, I find them slightly nuts.

Still, positive nuts are better than negative nuts, right?

Barb Lovelace, post above, said something that makes terrific sense: “If it isn’t going to effect me in eternity don’t worry about it!!!!!!!!”
I wonder then, if they reject capitalism and would lean towards a more socialist type policy. A policy that helps one’s neighbor over ensuring the profits of a corporation paying their workers peanuts. Cause Tennessee is a very red state. It’s the state that let that mans house burn because he didn’t pay a 75 dollar fee. Must be none of these types of Christians lived in that town.
