About the study’s author, Roxanne Benjamin —
As an undergraduate Roxanne Benjamin studied visual and performing arts and creative story analysis at University of Pittsburgh, University of Limerick in Ireland, and Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. Upon graduation she worked for both the Belcourt Theater and the Tennessee Repertory Theater. After volunteering at The Documentary Channel, she was hired on as a Media Associate, before becoming the Programming Manager and Film Festival Coordinator. While attending the Heinz College of Public Policy and Management at Carnegie Mellon University, Roxanne served as an Exhibitions and Development Associate for Pittsburgh Filmmakers and the Three Rivers Film Festival. Last month, Roxanne graduated with a Masters in Entertainment Industry Management from Carnagie Mellon. Since moving to Los Angeles, she has worked in Creative Affairs, Development, Production and Acquisitions for the Jinks/Cohen Company (MILK, AMERICAN BEAUTY, PUSHING DAISIES), Paramount Vantage, Focus Features, DC Comics, and the episodic television series MEDIUM. Roxanne also serves as a freelance blogger for online publications such as Ain’t It Cool News and the American Film Institute.
